OUR SERVICES

A comprehensive range of facilities, electrical and renewable energy services

Solar energy leads what we do — backed by fibre, maintenance, UPS and cabling capabilities delivered to EPC contractors, IPPs and corporate clients across South Africa.

Renewable Energy — Solar PV

Primary Focus

IFM is a South African mechanical, civil and electrical balance-of-plant (BoP) subcontractor specialising in the construction of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) plants. Since July 2024, IFM has self-performed BoP packages for three separate Tier-1 EPC contractors on solar PV projects across Limpopo Province.

Our services are typically engaged on a subcontract basis by main EPC contractors, and are executed to the specifications, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and programme milestones set by the Contractor and Employer for each project.

Solar PV Scope of Work

  • Mounting structure and single-axis tracker installation — pile ramming, pre-drilling, pile driving with cement grout, and pull-out/load/torque testing of tracker foundations
  • PV module installation, stringing, mapping and interconnection — with serial-number traceability and string-level quality records
  • Cable trench excavation, bedding and backfilling for DC, LV and MV circuits
  • String, main DC, LV, MV and communication cable laying, termination and testing
  • DC combiner box, junction box and inverter transformer station (ITS) installation
  • Grounding, bonding and earthing works — including exothermic welding and compression grounding connections
  • Transformer-area electrical installation and inspection support
  • Site health, safety, environmental and quality management, with compliance reporting against Economic / Socio-Economic Development (SED) obligations, including local labour and local-SMME subcontracting targets

Our commitment to renewable energy

As an international drive, IFM, with its diverse field of expertise, is throwing its weight behind the lifelong struggle against global warming. Realising the importance of this justified aim, IFM has appointed highly skilled and experienced personnel to enable this drive to become a reality — respecting the impact on nature and the ecological impact created in achieving this goal. IFM, as a company, and its appointed personnel have the ability and experience to succeed in constructing, commissioning and maintaining photovoltaic installations.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Building thriving communities through local employment

At IFM, we are committed to empowering and developing local communities by creating meaningful employment, skills development and long-term career opportunities within South Africa's rapidly expanding renewable energy sector. Through our projects, local community members gain practical workplace experience, technical training and mentorship that enable them to build sustainable careers.

Since the inception of our renewable energy projects, IFM has remained dedicated to developing local employees beyond general labour positions — providing opportunities for promotion, mentorship and skills development, and compliance reporting against Economic / Socio-Economic Development (SED) obligations, including local labour and local-SMME subcontracting targets.

Investing in the next generation

Our vision is to inspire, train and develop the next generation of engineers, skilled artisans, technicians, supervisors and industry leaders. The individuals who join our projects consistently demonstrate determination, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn — IFM is committed to nurturing this potential through career progression, leadership development and continuous learning.

PROJECT EXECUTION

Project execution methodology

The old adage of 'fail to plan = plan to fail' was never truer than for the facility management industry. Intelligent Facility Management takes project planning seriously — every engagement runs on a formal, signed-off project plan with quality assurance defined against international standards.

Formal Project Management

All service delivery is undertaken within the bounds of a formal project plan — agreed to and signed off by all parties — covering change, configuration and quality management, training and skills transfer.

Lessons Learnt

We retain records of each project undertaken. Every new project builds on the knowledge of previous ones, delivering a more professionally managed outcome every time.

Best Practice & QA

Project Quality Assurance hinges on the Project Quality Plan — activities defined at the start of each project on the basis of international quality standards, focused on achieving the client's quality expectations.
